Summer Style 2016: Lip Colors!

Summer is a great time for cosmetic and makeup lovers because the colors become so much brighter and easier to play with! You can use vivid reds and pinks (or even go a bit crazy and use blues and purples) while, during the winter, the colors tend to be much darker and neutral. This summer make sure your makeup is on trend with these striking colors straight from the runway.

Candy Apple Red

Reds are always popular in the summer, and this year is no different. Nearly every designer with a runway collection had their models wear the perfect crimson apple lipstick. A lot of people chose to use a very powerful and bold red on the lips while leaving the rest of the face natural and bare, which is what most people can do in the summer when wearing lipstick as well!

Vampire Lips

“Vampire” lips are typically seen more in the Fall/Winter, but we saw them in the Spring/Summer collections this year! Stained and ombre finishes on the lips were popular among designers such as Anna Sui, Burberry, and Givenchy. Oxblood seemed to be the most popular “vampire” color on the runways, so maybe don’t put all of your winter makeup away, you may need to keep those darker lip colors and vamp out!

Nude Lips

Soft neutrals are making a major comeback (remember them in the 90s?) During New York Fashion Week, we saw Victoria Beckham, Zac Posen, and Oscar de la Renta use nude lipstick on their models while other designers like Rodarte used amazing hairpieces to take center stage, pulling our eyes away from the face and leaving the makeup neutral and unimposing.

Clear Lipstick

Clear lipsticks and lip glosses were popular this year on the Spring/Summer runways. It’s an easy look that anyone can pull off, and gives your face an effortless, chic appearance. Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Vera Wang all used clear lipsticks during their shows and paired it with a very sleek and clean hairstyle. Soft and neutral, bold and bright, or clean and clear, go wild this summer with the latest runway trends.
